3D Printer Fabrication and Research
We are engaged in the fabrication and research of open-source 3D printers. Below are my past projects.
VORON 2 (2.4)_350
Built in June 2022
- Open Source:Official site: Voron design
- Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) / High-Speed 3D Printer
- Build Volume:350mm(X) x 350mm(Y) x 330mm(Z)
- Mechanism:CoreXY、Fixed Bed + Moving Gantry (Z-axis belt-driven)
- Features: Since the bed is stationary, there is minimal vibration even with large models. Enclosed chamber. Supports dynamic bed leveling.
- Impressions: Excellent for high-speed and high-precision printing. The enclosed chamber allows for easy temperature control. Maintenance is relatively easy. However, assembly requires advanced skills and may be challenging for beginners.
Voron Trident_350
Built in January 2023
- Open Source:Official site: Voron design
- Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) / High-Speed 3D Printer
- Build Volume: 350mm(X) x 350mm(Y) x 250mm(Z)
- Mechanism:CoreXY, Moving Bed (3-point Z lift), Fixed Gantry
- Features: Bed moves vertically. Enclosed chamber. Supports automatic bed leveling.
- Impressions: Excellent for high-speed and high-precision printing. Easy temperature control with the enclosed chamber. However, like the VORON 2.4, it requires advanced assembly skills and may be difficult for beginners.
Voron 0(0.2)
Built in July 2024
- Open Source: Official site: Voron design
- Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) / High-Speed 3D Printer
- Build Volume: 120mm(X) × 120mm(Y) × 120mm(Z)
- Mechanism: CoreXY
- Features: Compact enclosed structure. Relatively fewer parts.
- Impressions: Space-saving, high-precision, and high-speed. Easy to carry around. Ideal for those considering limited space or portability. However, the small build volume and compact size can make assembly tricky, making it somewhat challenging for beginners.
VzBoT_Vz330
Built in February 2025
- Open Source: Official site: VzBoT
- Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) / High-Speed 3D Printer
- Build Volume: 330mm(X) × 330mm(Y) × 400mm(Z)
- Mechanism: CoreXY with All-Wheel Drive (AWD)
- Features: Designed for users seeking higher performance from CoreXY printers. Features CNC aluminum parts and a custom-made high-performance hotend.
- Impressions: Designed for ultra-high-speed printing. The AWD structure and lightweight design make it extremely fast. While information is limited, it’s an exciting choice for DIY enthusiasts. Building one requires a fair amount of experience due to the sparse documentation and limited community support.
BLV mgn Cube
Built in December 2021
- Open Source: Official site: BLV projects
- Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) / High-Speed 3D Printer
- Build Volume: 300(X)×300(Y)x365(Z)
- Mechanism: CoreXY, Open-front design
- Features: High headroom. Highly customizable.
- Impressions: A robust open-frame design. Uses MGN linear guide rails for high rigidity. Easy to assemble and modular, making customization simple. Some prior experience is recommended for the build.
